It is important to understand that floor care consists of different types of floors and they all require different maintenance and cleaning methods. In order to maintain floors, water and chemicals as well as equipment is needed.
A poor understanding of the floor can cause the floor to be damaged. It is important to use a neutral chemical that doesn't leave residue, colour, or burn the floor permanently. Floors with a bright color and absorbent properties must always be cleaned with clean mops and water.
Modern Vinyl Floors
Some modern vinyl floors cannot be stripped or coated and has a natural shine. Products such as, Saf Blue and Saf Lustre are used to clean the floor. These products can also be used to buff the floor by using a Cleanfix High Speed Single Disc machine with a white floor pad.
Normal Vinyl Floor
Normal Vinyl floor can be dry cleaned and stripped using one of the following products:
Saf Floorgene
Saf Fatsolve
Saf Bactro Strip
Saf Stripper
Saf LF Stripper
together with a Cleanfix Low speed Single Disc machine and a black or blue floor pad.
Blue floor pads can be used where the floor is coated with a permanent sealer and/or where the purpose is to remove the normal sealer which is coated on the top of the permanent sealer. Use cold or normal water when rinsing to protect the permanent sealer.
If the floor is coated with a normal sealer, a black floor pad must be used to strip the floor. Use warm or hot water to help lift off the old sealer from the floor.
The stripper must be given enough reaction time on the floor to dry before any scrubbing can take place. After scrubbing the floor, rinse with clean water and repeat the process three (3) times until the chemical is removed from the floor. Saf Glass are used when rinsing the floor for the first time to neutralize the chemical that was used to strip the floor. Leave the floor to dry.
When the floor is dry, buff the floor by using a Cleanfix Low Speed Single disc machine. The floor can now be sealed with Saf Sealer or Saf Marmoleum Shine depending on the floor type.
Three (3) to four (4) coats can be put on the floor for more shine. Finish the process off by buffing the floor with Saf Lustre or Saf Spray Buff. This will leave the floor to shine and last longer.
